As a viable and sustainable entity within the University of Arkansas, it is the mission of Garvan Woodland Gardens to: 1) Preserve and enhance a unique part of the Ouachita Mountain Environment; 2) Provide people with a place of learning, research, cultural enrichment, and serenity; 3) Develop and sustain gardens, landscapes, and structures of exceptional aesthetics, design, and construction; and 4) Parnter with and serve the communities of which the Gardens is a part.
The Education Department offers a variety of adult classes and workshops (see our calendar of events for details). It also provides educational opportunies for schools and school-age children.
Field trip tours should be booked through the education department.
Voluneers wishing to become docents at the Gardens need to attend a schedule of education programs to familarize themselves with plants. Click here for a list.
